This blog is the place where I will talk about my new paintings, works in progress, why I created particular pieces, and other trivia that I will put down, if for no better reason than for posterity's sake. Earthdance Farms, Plein Air Oil Painting by Missouri Artist Daniel Fishback
Farms. This farm supplies produce to the Ferguson Farmer's Market and is a teaching farm where students learn farming. The owners gracioiusly allowed us to come onto their property to paint at the end of their workday. I was drawn to the sunflowers in the foreground. This painting measures 9 x 12 inches and is framed. Currently it is on display at the NAC Gallery in Ferguson, Missouri.

Circus Flora Narrator, Original Impressionistic Figurative Painting by Daniel Fishback - Sold
This is the second in a series of paintings I created from photos that I took at Circus Flora in June 2010. I was one of 60 artists that, for the first year, had the privilege of watching the circus performers rehearse. During this time we set up and created sketches, paintings, and photographs of the rehearsal. We were also privileged to visit the back lot and were granted passes to photograph the live performance. It was a very nice opportunity.

Circus Flora Horse Act, Oil Painting by Missouri Artist Daniel Fishback
This painting was created from a photograph that I took at Circus Flora on June 26th, 2010. I was one of 60 artists that were invited to participate behind the scenes and watch the circus performers rehearse. We were also privileged to visit the back lot and were granted passes to photograph the live performance. This is the first of a series of paintings from my photographs and sketches of the circus.

Old 195, Realistic Watercolor Landscape Painting by Missouri Artist Daniel Fishback
This is an original watercolor painting on gesso'd watercolor paper. It was painted from a photograph my friend gave me after taking a trip to Alaska. The painting measures 15×22 inches, is matted to 22 x 28.5 inches, is framed in a custom frame, and is ready to hang.

After The Rain, Original Impressionistic Landscape Painting by Daniel Fishback
I took the photo from which I painted this piece one evening after quite a rain had fell on the area. The rain ended for the day and the sun came out but was setting as I took the photo. The puddle in the foreground was ablaze with the reflection of the red barn. The air was clear after the rain the sky was free of any clouds. It was a beautiful scene that just beckoned me to photograph and then paint it. The painting measures 20 x 18 x 1.5 inches. It is a gallery wrapped canvas and I carried the painting onto the sides and top.

Elsah Streetscape, Plein Air Impressionistic Oil Painting by Daniel Fishback
I painted this painting at the Mississippi Earthtones Plein Air Painting Competition. Elsah is a favorite old town which used to have an excellent little cafe. They made excellent soups, sandwiches, and homemade desserts. The painting is signed in the lower right corner. It is unframed but has gallery wrapped edges. The edges are painted so it may be hung as is or it may be framed and hung.
